Last month The Daily Mantra brought you Mormon's On A Mission, a calendar in which a dozen LDS beefcakes posed topless to strip away misconceptions about their faith. This month a group of morticians are challenging stereotypes and turning heads. The Men of Mortuaries calendar features a selection of hot bloodied morticians, who are displaying their buff bodies to raise money for breast cancer. The Daily Mantra is particularly looking forward to March and July 2008, which are graced by part time cowboy and apprentice funeral director Travis Barton and the appropriately named Kevin Devine, respectively.
The calendar was the brainchild of funeral director Kenneth McKenzie, of McKenzie Mortuary in Long Beach. After the success of his 2007 edition, McKenzie held a nationwide competition to find models for 2008. The drop dead gorgeous guys featured in the 2008 calendar were selected from over 400 hopefuls. Proceeds from sale of the calendar, T-shirts, and upcoming book and DVD will go to Kamm Cares, a non-profit McKenize founded after his sister discovered she had breast cancer. The organization is dedicated to the care and assistance of those going through treatment for breast cancer. Funeral Homes from across the nation will be throwing signing parties to promote the calendar, and many are offering free mammogram testing during the launch.
